A Day Where We Can Rest From Toils

Labor Day is celebrated every first of May, and coincidentally the day before my birthday. It is a day where people get to rest from their work and an international holiday across many other countries, such as Germany, France, UK, Australia, Pakistan and Peru. (1)

To me, it is a very significant holiday because it gives workers a chance to rest for a day from their daily work. Since people tend to work a lot all throughout the year, it is only proper to have holidays where they can celebrate and rest from their toil.

I used to not know the origin of such a holiday, but I learned about it during our AP 2nd quarter. The KMU was established on May 1, 1980, which is why it is called Kilusang Mayo Uno, an independent labor center in the Philippines that stands for the workers' rights.
