My Say in This Matter

September 23, 2022

Dear Mr. President:

Sincerely, I do not know where to begin and what to say. Politics is too difficult for my brain to comprehend. I was too focused in things I could understand than wonder about about who's going to win during the elections. When I was asked who I would vote for, given the choices were only you and Leni, I said neither. I didn't really have an interest in politics. Things are too complicated, too twisted for my young brain to understand.

I would say congratulations, but I'm not going to be surprised if it would seem insincere. It isn't going to be from the heart if I were to say congratulations. This is simply my way of saying, "I would only say this if you lead the country by doing good". With all the issues the country is suffering from, the best way to win people's hearts and show how worthy you are as our president is by helping us recover from these. You can start small and gradually go big in your steps in handling these issues. Otherwise, we'd simply be a country who's pieces are shattered and scattered, whose people can never get along with each other even in the simplest things, even in issues that needs our full cooperation and unity. Lead us the way you promised (though to be honest I have no idea how you promised to lead us; I don't remember things often). Help us stand up when we stumble. The most I can ask of you, Mr. President, is that you take notice of these issues and slowly but surely take steps in solving them. It is not as if a simple, young student like me can make big actions. You, however, are different, Mr. President. I hope you are well aware of the burdens and the responsibilities of being a president the moment you started as a candidate. Do not waste your position, your title, on useless things. Show the people who voted for you they chose the right person, that you will lead the country well.

My words may seem harsh (though the right word for this isn't 'seem'; my words ARE indeed harsh), but as someone who grew up hearing harsh words, I know it can help somehow. It can help us grow in different ways. It can help us be prepared for certain situations. Lastly, it can help us be aware of our responsibilities, our roles and our tasks. This is what helps us build our armor. An armor we wear everyday as we face the battles life gives us. Please, please, do not fail us.

  1. Reading words from someone whose stance is neutral in the battlefield of Philippine politics arouses my interest. You may not notice it but you giving advice to the president of the republic shows your sincere perseverance for your country. Continue working hard for the progress of our country, fellow citizen!

    1. I'm surprised there are people who take notice of us who are in the neutral side, since everyone is almost always bickering about who should be president based on their own opinions. It's almost as if we, who are neutral, simply keep quiet to not get involved in the bickering. Let's continue to persevere for our country!
