The Day of Hearts

    Equally memorable and despicable. That was the way I could describe it. Seeing as to how pessimistic I am, I first thought of the negative parts of that day. After a few minutes, I recalled the fun I had as we sang and read out loud for each of our teachers. Sometimes, people forget the good times. I do too.

    The day began with students coming into school, some wearing their school or club uniform, while others wore colors according to the post made by the SSG to wear for Valentine's. Since I didn't have any shirt that was the color brown or maroon, I just wore a white shirt. I couldn't help but be shocked at grade 7 students who wore a red outfit. It would've been just another day for me and yet it made me feel incredibly alone and uncomfortable. I tried to just keep my emotions in control and just did as our class planned: reading our messages for the teachers and singing love songs. The guys in the class danced with our teachers as we sang, and some of the guys even danced with each other in a rather hilarious manner, making us smile and laugh as we sang.

    Valentine's Day used to be just another normal day, until I had fond memories this February 14, 2023. I usually just saw it as a day with lots of couples, chocolates and stuff, but now I don't. Valentine's Day isn't just a day to portray romantic love. After all, there are many different kinds of love. Love for our friends, family, teachers, etc!
